Restoring Lost Heritage
In ancient times the best machines to work out with any stuff were humans but now in the light of technology, some of our best traditions are seeing darkness. It’s not the matter of change and involvement of technology but the stuff that we are forgetting, the traditions which we are losing.
Losing traditions is easier but to hold and preserve it for the upcoming generations is a difficult task but we are born to opt the easiest one. It’s a shame for us. Since the Mughals entrance, we have a mixed culture that brought us close to Persian ideas.
Basically, we are the inhabitants of Uttarakhand so I can confidently speak of it. It is blessed with the forest where different types of wood are available for some creative purposes. It’s all the matter of vision and dedication.
Our ancestors here at Uttarakhand used to carve their doors and windows which were made of wood by some cool designs, but now this tradition is only limited to abandoned doors. It’s such a sad thing that we are not able to carry out our heritage with us.
Well, the reason for people abandoning this art is that the customers think the rates are too high and the worker needs the money for his efforts and art. This is leading to the change in their profession. They are leaving the art in which they are extremely good at. However, everything fixes itself in the lapse of time. The mentioned tradition was far from the customers because they thought that the cost they ask for is too high, but that can be fixed by the combination of the modern ideas and old techniques.
Many machines are there which are capable of doing so moreover in the cheapest way. Here in Kotdwara, Digital Carve has taken the step to preserve the heritage of our Garhwal. They began with wooded stuff when almost everyone doubted on the potential of this tradition. They have developed the machine that unites with the wooden carving tradition and technology and results in the architect of useful goods.
